72 Hours in Kiev, Ukraine

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit my “childhood” friend of… well, let’s say about 20 years… anyway, she lives in Kyiv, Ukraine. From where I’m from, visiting Ukraine would have been incredibly expensive. But from here in Copenhagen, I could get to my friend in a few hours for a hundred or so euro. Knowing there’s a good chance we wont be in Denmark in 2020, I took the chance to see my friend and headed to Kiev.

Before my visit, I have to admit, I didn’t know much about Ukraine… well, other than what my friend and I talked about. I knew that Ukraine has been through some great turmoils but nothing like the devastating historical moments, striking periods of determination and even genocide I came to understand on my journey.

I want to spew novels upon novels of how I feel after visiting Ukraine, but I am still in the midst of digesting my trip. I am not at a point where I could possibly do it justice. So, like usual, I’ll let the photos do the talking. And you can always do a little learning here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Heavenly_Hundred_Heroes

The City of Kiev, Ukraine. September 2019.

The last photo is the center of the city of Kyiv, which was one of the last things I saw before hopping in the car and heading to the airport where I had the worst airline experience with Wizz Airlines… but that’s beside the point. I loved Kyiv! If you ever have the chance to visit, you should. It’s beautiful, the food is amazing, I can’t say enough about my time with my beautiful friend in her spectacular city.

Visit Kyiv, I promise it’s worth it.
